Is a Knack expandable backpack big enough for my trip?

Knack’s expandable packing compartment was designed to meet the needs of both everyday carry and travel. The storage capacity depends on the size of the Knack Pack.

Small Knack Packs hold 1-2 changes of clothes for overnight trips.
Medium Knack Packs hold 2-3 changes of clothes for short trips.
Large Knack Packs hold 3-4 changes of clothes for extended trips.

When packing minimally, you don’t want much more than 4 changes of clothes on a trip. It’s easier to keep your pack light by bringing clothing with complimentary colors and minimizing bulky items like sweaters and shoes.

Can a backpack be checked luggage?

Knack Packs were designed to be carry-on friendly, so you can save time and money by not checking them. However, Knack Packs can easily be used as checked luggage. Our shoulder straps tuck away so they won’t get snagged or damaged during transit.

Does a Knack Pack fit under an airplane seat when expanded?

The size under US planes varies, so you should always double check your airline carry-on restrictions. As a rule of thumb, Small and Medium Knack Packs fit under U.S. airplane seats expanded, while Large Knack Packs fit under airplane seats unexpanded.

Is it better to travel with a backpack or suitcase?

As seasoned travelers, we believe traveling with a single backpack is easier than a traditional suitcase. We call it One Bag Life. Pack your Knack’s expandable suitcase compartment during travel and then, when you get to your destination, unpack the compartment and use the compression zipper to hide it away so you can use your Knack as an everyday backpack.

It’s like a carry-on suitcase and a work backpack in one! Fully packed in the luggage compartment, it easily fits two pairs of jeans, 3 long sleeve shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, travel toiletries, socks, etc. The work compartment fits everything you’d need for work. Plus a place for all items, keys, phones, glasses.

I strapped it on and walked 15 minutes in town - really comfortable. All that and no bigger than a small roller bag (with which you’d need a computer bag on top).
