About Knack

Knack sprang from the simple observation that too many people were carrying too many bags at the same time. This aha moment spurred our passion to live a One Bag Life. So we pulled together a dedicated group of frequent travelers and bag enthusiasts––from Tumi, Coach, North Face, Samsonite, and eBags––to create the one bag that’s clever enough to replace two.

What size backpack is TSA compliant?

The general rule of thumb is that TSA carry-on bags should be within the following dimensions: 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 x 36 x 22 cm). Knack Packs were designed to be carry-bags that meet these requirements.

What does a travel backpack mean?

A travel backpack should be durable and comfortable with enough space and organization pockets to stow your clothes and accessories for a multiple-day trip. Knack Packs are expandable to easily convert from everyday backpacks to travel backpacks.

How to pack a backpack for travel?

When packing a backpack for travel, it’s helpful to include bottoms and tops that all pair well with each other, so you have maximum outfit combinations. Rolling your clothes –– or using Knack’s compression packing cubes and compression shoe bags –– will save space in your travel backpack.

Testimonials

Amazing Product and Company. I have tried a lot of backpacks designed for travel and the Knack is by far the best. It was the first bag I’ve used that is equally good for both traveling and everyday use. For daily use, the large Knack Pack neatly organizes all my essentials for the office and gym without being too big and bulky. I frequently take business trips that have me on the road 2-3 days, and the Knack’s expandability allows me to pack all my travel accessories while keeping all my same work stuff in its everyday place. It totally has eliminated the need for a carry-on bag/suitcase #OneBagLife

Finally traveled the first time with this bag so I thought I'd leave a review. Some highlights from other reviews to note is that the water bottle pocket isn't too useful if your bag is full because it competes with space in the bag. I'd also prefer if the front pocket opened more, it's easy to lose little things down towards the bottom if you don't put them in one of the interior pockets...The bag really works for anything from a weekend (unexpended, no packing cubes) to a week or possibly more using the packing cubes and the bag expansion.

From working as a traveling MA, to taking weekend trips across the country, to traveling overseas, to now medical school, this backpack has consistently been amazing. I have so many positive things to say, but to just pick a few, the expandable compartment is so useful when I need it and so easy to forget when I don't, the exterior and interior have held up far better than any backpack I've ever owned, and the layout of all the pockets is so well designed that I can't remember the last time I had to dig around looking for something at the bottom of the bag, especially with small things which fit perfectly into the many small pockets near the top of the compartments.

Overall, for anyone who can stomach the cost and finds themselves relatively on-the-go, I highly recommend giving this bag a try. I'm really glad I did.

This bag solves a problem for me. I regularly go on multi day business trips and I like traveling with a backpack instead of a roller. Large multi day backpacks are great for this but leave you without an obvious “day pack” option unless you pack one into your large bag. The Knack 2 lets me pack days of clothes (I get 4+), unpack at your destination, and then turns into a sleek day pack. Materials seem top notch and the organizing features are incredibly easy to use. I have tried and owned travel packs like this from several different companies and this one is head and shoulders above the rest for flexibility and quality.
